At 11:00 a.m. on 11 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Colonel Pawarit Kundilakrangsi, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Pathum Thani City Police Station, received a report of a collision between a Fortuner and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, relatives, and a niece riding as a passenger died at the scene on the underpass road near Wat Ratsatthatham, Village No. 1, Bang Luang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province. He went to the scene with forensic doctors from the Ministry of Justice and rescue workers from Poh Teck Tung Foundation.
At the scene, all three deceased were women identified as 1. Mrs. Kankera Khemthong, 59, 2. Ms. Urai Tamdee, 58, and 3. Miss Waranya or "Nong Eva" Nupongthai, 7. Nearby was a heavily damaged Honda Wave motorcycle with license plate KTK 624 Pathum Thani, and a white Toyota Fortuner with license plate 4 ขส 2550 Bangkok. The driver, Sorakrit Uchupap, 37, identified himself and was taken into custody at Pathum Thani City Police Station. The Fortuner’s front was extensively damaged.
Ms. Somthong Tamdee, 70, sister of the deceased Ms. Urai Tamdee, said her sister had gone to vote in the Bang Luang Subdistrict Head election and then eaten noodles before heading home, which was not far from the accident site.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Pawarit Kundilakrangsi, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Pathum Thani City Police Station, after inspecting the scene, took photographs as evidence. The Poh Teck Tung Foundation transferred the bodies to the Forensic Science Institute, Ministry of Justice (Som Saeng Road) for further examination. Nearby CCTV cameras captured footage of the incident.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanus Wisutthaporn, Deputy Superintendent of the Investigation Division, Pathum Thani Provincial Police, said he was driving from home to work at the investigation unit when he encountered the accident. He helped direct traffic and coordinated with Pathum Thani City Police. He added that this area often has accidents because it is an intersection with unclear traffic signals.
Reports say that after the accident, the Fortuner driver remained inside the vehicle in shock until an ununiformed police officer arrived and took him for questioning. The driver initially stated he was following GPS directions when, upon reaching an intersection without traffic lights, the motorcycle traveling along Bang Duea Canal road collided violently with his vehicle. Authorities will conduct a detailed investigation. Breathalyzer tests showed the driver had no alcohol in his system.
