A fire broke out in two adjacent three-story commercial buildings within the Mukdahan Municipality area, killing six cats kept by the owner on the second floor.
On 11 January 2026 at approximately 13:20, reporters reported a fire at two adjoining three-story commercial buildings located at 58 Muang Mai Road, Mukdahan Municipality, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province. The two buildings housed the My Love event decoration shop and Dong Madam nail salon, owned by Mrs. Sukanya and Mr. Chaiyo Tangsutthiwong.
Mr. Chaiyo Tangsutthiwong said the two shops were operated by his daughter, who was out of town on the day of the fire. He and his wife were at their home behind the buildings. They kept six cats on the second floor. He and neighbors saw smoke and flames coming from the buildings and quickly reported the fire.
After the report, fire trucks from Mukdahan Municipality, Bang Sai Yai Subdistrict Municipality, and Kham Ahuan Subdistrict Municipality mobilized to extinguish the fire. It took over 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control. No injuries were reported, but six cats died in the fire.
Authorities are currently surveying and assessing the property damage in detail to proceed with the next steps.
Tomorrow, the Mukdahan Municipality will visit the site to provide initial financial assistance to those affected and continue to offer support as needed.
