Roi Et Hospital Reveals Cause of Female Nurses Death During Night Shift CPR Efforts Unsuccessful

Roi Et Hospital revealed that a female nurse suddenly died from acute heart failure combined with severe cardiac arrhythmia while on a night shift. CPR was administered, but her life could not be saved.

In the case of Ms. Yuparak Sukwandee, a professional nurse in the nursing operations group at Roi Et Hospital, assigned to the female internal medicine ward 2, she suddenly died from acute heart failure combined with severe cardiac arrhythmia while working the night shift on the night of 11 January 2026.

Recently, Roi Et Hospital clarified the incident, stating that the deceased was working her regular shift and had no underlying diseases or prior illness history. The event occurred suddenly due to cardiac arrest while she was in the restroom. When it was noticed she was taking an unusually long time, the door was forced open to assist her. Subsequently, CPR was performed by medical and multidisciplinary teams, but they were unable to save her life.

Additionally, the hospital explained that there are morning, afternoon, and night shifts; on the day of the incident, she was on the night shift starting at midnight and ending at 8 a.m. The shift schedule follows nursing council guidelines, limiting work hours to no more than 60 hours per week, with afternoon and night shifts not exceeding three consecutive days. Upon reviewing the work schedule, it was found to comply with these standards. Initial inquiries revealed that before her shift, Ms. Yuparak had dinner with her family and appeared cheerful in video clips.

Ms. Yuparak Sukwandee graduated from Rajathanee University in 2018 and began working as a daily-wage professional nurse on 1 July 2025. Colleagues acknowledged her as a diligent nurse, responsible and fully dedicated to patient care.

His Majesty graciously bestowed special royal patronage upon Ms. Yuparak Sukwandee, including placing her remains under royal auspices, granting a royal wreath, and presiding over the royal funeral, as well as providing commemorative items and refreshments at the ceremony. This is the highest honor for the deceased and her family. Meanwhile, the hospital provided initial compensation of 100,000 baht and assistance with funeral expenses.

The schedule for the Buddhist prayer rites for Ms. Yuparak Sukwandee is set from 11 to 14 January 2026, with the cremation planned for 15 January 2026 at Ban Hua Fai Temple, Suea Kok Subdistrict, Wapi Pathum District, Maha Sarakham Province.
