Six Myanmar Employees Fired After Assault on Delivery Riders Shop Temporarily Closed for Lacking License Display

The restaurant owner has fired six Myanmar employees who assaulted three delivery riders, citing remorse and apologizing to the Thai community. Meanwhile, local authorities inspected the premises, found no registration documents, and ordered a temporary closure.

Hot-tempered Myanmar workers drove into the wrong lane and, when honked at as a warning, reacted angrily by cutting in front and making an obscene gesture, challenging the rider to confront them. When the rider tried to discuss the matter calmly, he was ambushed by six individuals who severely beat three riders and damaged their motorcycles with weapons. The incident occurred in Samut Prakan.

The latest update: At 10:30 a.m. on 12 Jan 2026, Mr. Suthee Supap, Deputy District Chief for Security of Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan, along with local officials and investigative police from Bang Bo Police Station, inspected a restaurant in Bang Bo Subdistrict, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan, where Myanmar workers are employed. Upon inspection, no staff or managers were found; only empty tables, chairs, and a stage remained. Officials then contacted the restaurant owner to come and provide information.

Ms. May, 32, a Myanmar national and business partner, said the restaurant has been operating for about two months with proper licensing as a registered eatery. However, customers often bring in alcohol to consume on-site. Regarding the incident, an employee named Mr. Heng, 33, from Myanmar, admitted to a confrontation with the delivery riders on the road. He claimed he was not at fault but acknowledged his hot temper led him to physically assault the riders first. He expressed remorse and apologized to the victims and the Thai public. Ms. May stated she has since dismissed all six employees involved and wishes to apologize to Thai people for the incident.

Mr. Suthee Supap, Deputy District Chief for Security of Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan, said that after speaking with Ms. May, who claimed the owner is Thai and that the restaurant holds valid registration documents, officials found no documents displayed at the premises during inspection. Therefore, the restaurant has been ordered to close indefinitely until all claimed documents are presented to the authorities for verification, after which further consideration will be made.
