At 17:30 on 12 Jan 2026, Samaesarn Subdistrict Municipality received reports of a widespread grass fire that spread up Samaesarn Hill near Ban Nong Krachong, Samaesarn Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. The fire expanded broadly, producing dense black smoke that covered the sky, causing concern that it might approach residential areas and creating alarm among local residents.
Initially, support was requested from nearby agencies, including Sattahip Naval Base, Kledkaew Subdistrict Municipality, Sattahip Town Municipality, Plutaluang Municipality, and Khet Udomsak Subdistrict Municipality, bringing together over 10 fire trucks to spray water and suppress the fire. However, as of 21:10, the situation was still not fully under control.
The preliminary cause is believed to be the ignition of dry grass that quickly spread the flames up the hill, as the area mainly consists of dry grass and dense forest. Authorities will coordinate with police to investigate those responsible for setting the fire and take legal action accordingly.
