At 11:35 a.m. on 14 Jan 2026, Phuket Airport received communication from the captain of ETIHAD flight EY-416 from Abu Dhabi to Phuket, reporting an air turbulence incident while approaching Phuket Airport. Initially, there were concerns of multiple injuries. The airport was asked to prepare field teams to assist passengers and crew. Upon notification, Phuket Airport coordinated with local medical units to prepare emergency response following the international airport's safety plan.
At 12:15 p.m. the same day, Mr. Monchai Tano, Director of Phuket Airport, announced that the flight had safely landed at parking bay number 15 within the Phuket Airport runway. The captain confirmed that there were no passengers requiring hospital treatment, and all passengers continued safely to their accommodations.
