
A public warning has been issued for residents in the surveillance area to avoid "contact with stray animals" after detecting an animal infected with rabies in Khlong Sam Prawet subdistrict, Lat Krabang district, Bangkok.
On 14 January 2026, the Facebook pageRabies Control Group, Public Veterinary Health Office, Bangkokpublished an announcement from the Department of Livestock Development Area 3 regarding a temporary rabies outbreak zone, following the discovery of an animal infected with rabies in Khlong Sam Prawet subdistrict, Lat Krabang district, Bangkok. Rabies is a serious contagious disease that can spread to humans, dogs, cats, cattle, buffalo, or other mammals.
The announcement warns residents in the community areas of Khlong Sam Prawet subdistrict, Lat Krabang district, Bangkok, and surrounding communities within a 5-kilometer radius, including:
Residents are strongly advised to avoid contact with stray animals in the area. If bitten or exposed to animals suspected of having rabies, wash the wound with soap and seek medical attention immediately to receive rabies vaccination. If you find dogs or cats that are dead or showing signs suspicious for rabies (restlessness, inability to stay still, biting at anything, stiff body, excessive salivation, tongue hanging out), please call the Rabies Control and Dog Shelter Group (Prawet) at 02-328-7460.
