The subdistrict engineer involved in the collision that caused the deaths of three schoolgirls apologized to the victims' families and offered initial compensation of 20,000 baht per case. He explained he did not intend to flee but was shocked and unsure how to react before going to pay respects at the funeral. Police reported the case is over 80% progressed and assured fairness to all parties involved.

Updates on the case of a car colliding with a motorcycle in Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi Province, which resulted in the deaths of three girls: On 15 January 2026, Mr. Kampanat, a subdistrict engineer from Bang Khan Taek, Samut Songkhram Province, who was driving the BYD car involved, visited the families of all three victims at the Ban Laem Police Station meeting room. Police Chief Pol.Col. Wayuphak Wongsakdirin, justice office officials, representatives from Viriyah Insurance and Siam Smile Insurance joined the meeting to deliver compensation.

At the meeting, Mr. Kampanat raised his hands in a traditional Thai gesture of apology and expressed remorse to the families of all three victims. He said that after the accident, he did not intend to flee but was so shocked, especially with strong social media reactions, that he did not know what to do and was afraid to face the families. Today, he decided to come to Ban Laem Police Station to meet the families, offer initial compensation of 20,000 baht per victim, and requested permission to pay respects at the victims' funerals.

Viriyah Insurance provided initial compensation of 35,000 baht per victim, while the legal process awaits clear verification results. Additionally, Siam Smile Insurance gave compensation of 60,000 baht per victim from the student insurance arranged through their school.

Pol.Col. Wayuphak Wongsakdirin, Chief of Ban Laem Police Station, revealed that the police investigation is now over 80% complete. They have obtained dashcam footage from a good Samaritan driving behind, serving as strong evidence to confirm the nature of the incident. The authorities are awaiting forensic examination results from Phetchaburi's forensic police to support the case file for legal proceedings. He assured that the police are working transparently and will ensure fairness to all parties.

Following this, Mr. Kampanat went to pay respects at the funerals of Miss Kanokwan Lamjiak and Miss Sriprapai Jaehom, whose memorial services are being held at the Sala of Si Sa Kham Temple and Ton Son Temple in Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi Province. Relatives and guardians of the deceased warmly welcomed him, with no conflicts or violent incidents occurring.
