Italian-Thai Donates Initial Compensation of 150,000 Baht to Victims of Rama 2 Crane Collapse

Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited sent officials to deliver an initial compensation of 150,000 baht to the families of the victims of the Rama 2 crane collapse, to be used for funeral expenses.

On 16 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that legal representatives from the headquarters of Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited traveled to meet with the families of those who died in the construction crane collapse on the elevated Rama 2 Road (outbound) near the Tha Chin River bridge, close to Paris Hotel, Tha Chin Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province. They discussed and clarified the company’s compensation plans and demonstrated that the company has not abandoned the victims' families.

The company is ready to take responsibility and handle all cases arising from the incident. Initially, it approved compensation of 150,000 baht per family to be used for funeral rites until completion. After all procedures are complete, the company will enter negotiations to agree on appropriate compensation, aiming to satisfy the victims’ families.

Mrs. Jariya Payuttanaset, elder sister of Mr. Sarawut Vetchakarn, known as "U," aged 45, who died in the incident, said the company sent legal officials to closely assist and facilitate the family. They also provided an initial compensation of 150,000 baht to cover transporting her brother’s body back to their hometown for funeral rites.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Jilaporn Boonsit, daughter of Mr. Sompong Srisuk, who died in an Isuzu vehicle outside the scene, revealed that she traveled today to collect her father’s body from Samut Sakhon Hospital to conduct funeral rites in Phetchabun Province, their hometown. Italian-Thai Development also gave an initial compensation of 150,000 baht to assist with funeral expenses.
