Depa Advances Thai Digital Content Works to International Level

The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) is promoting Thai digital content works to an international level through the Digital Content Contest & Awards under the depa Thai Digital Content Go Global project, aiming to elevate Thai digital content globally.

On 16 Jan, reporters reported that the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), the Thai Game Software Industry Association (TGA), the Thai Digital Content Association (DCAT), and the Thai Animation and Computer Graphics Association (TACGA) organized the "Digital Content Accelerator Program" as part of the "Digital Content Contest & Awards." This contest and exhibition showcased Thai digital content developers’ works in three categories: games, animation, and characters. Mr. Warin Ratchananusorn, Acting Deputy CEO of depa, presided over the opening ceremony at the Grand Hall, 3rd floor, True Digital Park West, Bangkok.

Mr. Warin stated that in 2024, Thailand’s digital content industry was valued at 50.6 billion baht, growing by an average of 14% compared to the previous year, reflecting the sector’s potential. Consequently, depa launched the "depa Thai Digital Content Go Global" project to promote a comprehensive ecosystem supporting the Thai digital content industry and raise its competitiveness on the international stage. This project began in 2025. Over its duration, depa has recognized Thai developers’ potential, culminating in today’s Digital Content Contest & Awards event. This platform showcases quality digital content developed by Thais, aiming to push at least 200 works into commercial markets while inspiring Thai developers.

The Digital Content Accelerator Program selected 60 promising teams divided into three sub-programs: Game Accelerator Program, Animation Accelerator Program, and Character Accelerator Program. These cover 30 professional-level teams and 30 amateur-level teams. Participants receive specialized training, international expert consultations, access to necessary tools and technologies, and opportunities to present their works to investors and business partners at the Digital Content Contest & Awards. This marks a significant step toward commercializing works in overseas markets. Additionally, the event features a Showcase Zone displaying project works and a Business Matching area for investor, entrepreneur, and developer negotiations.

The Thai Digital Content Go Global project is divided into three major activity groups covering all aspects of the digital content industry: 1. Digital Content Infrastructure & Digital Content in Schools – developing infrastructure and nurturing digital content skills among Thai youth in 25 schools nationwide. This initiative builds a foundation conducive to tangible digital content development, resulting in over 250 quality works reflecting creativity and regional identity, all exhibited at the Digital Content Contest & Awards.

2. Digital Content Accelerator Program – accelerating growth for new developers and Thai entrepreneurs to enhance their capacity in creating digital content. 3. Digital Content Transformation – promoting digital content applications in business sectors to add value to products and services. This encourages SMEs to integrate Thai Character IP with their offerings, boosting business potential and value. Additionally, 15 prototype projects selected for funding support are showcased at the Digital Content Contest & Awards to publicize their work and facilitate business connections with investors and interested parties.

The Acting Deputy CEO of depa added that depa is confident that with Thai developers’ talent, systematic support, and an enabling ecosystem, Thai digital content can compete and stand out on the global stage. This will sustainably enhance the country's competitiveness.
