A man carrying a diamond ring to surprise his girlfriend with a marriage proposal was pickpocketed during the EDC concert in Phuket. He only realized after receiving an SMS from a major bank alerting him that his credit card had been charged about 300,000 baht.
On 18 Jan 2026, a Facebook user named "Acare Alice" posted a request for help on social media, sharing three photos showing the ring and wallet, with a message: “Please help share. Acare’s boyfriend was pickpocketed at the EDC Phuket event. The thief took the wallet and a diamond ring engraved with Acare&Golf, which means a lot to us.”
After the post spread, many netizens commented, shared, and offered sympathy and encouragement, hoping the items would be recovered.
Later, reporters interviewed Golf, the victim, who said he and his girlfriend traveled from Chiang Mai to attend the EDC Thailand 2026 concert in Phuket. They arrived around 9 p.m. While standing at the event, he heard repeated alerts from his banking app. Upon checking, he found his credit card had been charged about 300,000 baht.
He quickly checked his chest bag and found the zipper open and his Louis Vuitton wallet missing. Inside were several valuables: his and his girlfriend’s ID cards, a driver’s license, a diamond ring worth about 300,000 baht, 2,500 baht in cash, and multiple credit cards.
Golf said he has already filed a report at Cherng Talay Police Station. Police informed him that cases like this are difficult to trace unless the thief tries to sell the diamond ring, which could help identify and prosecute the culprit.
Regarding why he carried an expensive diamond ring to the event, Golf explained he knew there was a marriage proposal zone at the concert and intended to surprise his girlfriend. However, the unexpected theft occurred first. He appealed to the public to share the information to help recover the ring and important documents, especially the ID cards, which are very important to him.
