
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with Chiang Mai province, launched the grand "Chiang Mai Night Market" featuring spectacular light and sound systems, transforming San Kamphaeng Walking Street every Saturday until the end of February 2026.
On 17 Jan 2026 at "Khuang" in San Kamphaeng district, Chiang Mai province, known for its regular Saturday walking street, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Chiang Mai province jointly opened the "Chiang Mai Night Market." Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaiboon, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, presided over the ceremony alongside Mr. Siwakorn Buapong, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, and Mr. Chakree Khattrat, Mayor of San Kamphaeng municipality, the area owner of the walking street. Officials from all relevant departments, municipal staff, and local vendors also attended the official opening.
At the "Chiang Mai Night Market," TAT and related agencies transformed San Kamphaeng Walking Street with decorations reflecting local identity along the entire route. They applied modern techniques using lights, colors, sounds, and technology across 10 display points. Visitors can enjoy spectacular Light Installation – Mapping shows and lively free concerts every Saturday at San Kamphaeng Walking Street for six consecutive weeks, from 17 January to 28 February 2026, between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm (except Saturday, 7 February 2026).
