
A tragic incident occurred when a sedan struck a 73-year-old former civil servant as she was crossing the road, severing her leg and throwing her body, causing her to die instantly near Khlong 9 on Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road, Pathum Thani Province.
On 19 Jan 2026, it was reported that at 20:30 on the previous day (18 Jan), Police Lieutenant Thanason Chaemchoi, investigation officer at Thanyaburi Police Station, received a report of an accident where a sedan hit an elderly woman crossing the road, resulting in her death at the scene near Khlong 9 on Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road (inbound side), Village No.1, Bueng Sanan Subdistrict, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province. He immediately proceeded to the scene with volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation.
At the scene, the body of Mrs. Suchasinee, age 73, a former official of the Department of Intellectual Property, was found deceased with her left leg severed. The body lay beside the roadside guardrail. Nearly 200 meters away was a white Toyota Vios sedan with Chiang Mai license plates. The driver, Mr. Patiwat, age 47, is a chef at a well-known restaurant in the Khlong 11 area of Lam Luk Ka District.
According to Mr. Naret Naksangthong, a volunteer from Ruamkatanyu Foundation, upon arrival at the scene, he asked the sedan driver and learned that the deceased crossed from the outbound side of Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road at Khlong 9, crossing at the median barrier to the inbound side. As she suddenly ran across, the sedan driven by the young chef collided forcefully, causing her body to be thrown to the roadside guardrail, resulting in her instant death.
Police Lieutenant Thanason Chaemchoi of Thanyaburi Police Station stated that initial photographs of the scene were taken. Volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation were assigned to send the body for further autopsy at the Forensic Science Institute, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus, to determine additional causes of death. The sedan driver was summoned for further questioning at Thanyaburi Police Station. Relatives of the deceased will be contacted to collect the body for funeral rites.
