Thai Military Clears Landmines in Sisaket, Finds Over 200 Stockpiled Ammunition and Weapons

Clearing deadly areas, the Thai military eliminated threats by sweeping landmines in Sisaket, uncovering an arsenal of over 200 leftover rounds and weapons, and hastening the restoration of safety for the public.

On 20 January 2026, reporters noted that the Thai Armed Forces Headquarters (TAF HQ), through the National Mine Action Center (NMAC) and the 3rd Humanitarian Mine Action Unit, deployed a mine clearance team in Sisaket Province. The 3rd Humanitarian Mine Action Unit supported Task Force 26 Rangers (Chong Ta Loeng) by creating a 145-meter safe passage, securing an area of 780 square meters. They also supported the 22nd Infantry Battalion at the Hin Yai operational base by conducting searches that uncovered the following weapons and explosives.

  • 2 rounds of 82-millimeter recoilless rifle ammunition.
  • 100 M12 fuzes for 100-millimeter mortar shells.

    This mission reflects the commitment of the Thai Armed Forces Headquarters and the National Mine Action Center to eliminate landmine threats and restore safety and security to communities along the Thai-Cambodian border.
