Bangkok Sees Scattered Rain This Morning Northeast Begins New Cold Wave with 1-2°C Drop

This morning, Bangkok and its metropolitan area experience scattered rain, while the Northeast leads in the arrival of a new cold wave, with temperatures dropping by 1-2 degrees Celsius.

21 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Meteorological Department The 24-hour weather forecast indicates that a new moderate high-pressure cold air mass from China has spread over southern China and northern Vietnam. It is expected to move over the Northeast region today and subsequently cover upper Thailand.

This causes the Northeast to have cool to cold weather with strong winds, and temperatures dropping by 1–2 degrees Celsius. The North, Central, and Eastern regions experience cool weather with morning fog, with some areas in the North having dense fog.

For the lower Central and Eastern regions, there is light rain in some places due to easterly winds. The public is advised to take care of their health due to changing weather conditions and to be cautious when traveling through foggy areas, as well as to be alert to fire hazards because of dry conditions.

In the South, there are isolated thunderstorms caused by a strengthening weak northeast monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region. Waves in the lower Gulf of Thailand reach about 2 meters high, with waves exceeding 2 meters in areas of thunderstorms. Fishermen are advised to exercise caution when navigating.
