The Krabi Governor ordered a joint force to raid a “cannabis farm” after discovering it likely operates as a foreign business using Thai nominees. The license was suspended for 60 days, and evidence is being gathered to revoke the license and prosecute those involved according to the law.
At 10:00 a.m. on 21 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Angoon Sila Thewagul, Governor of Krabi Province, together with Mom Luang Phuthong Thongyai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Business Development, led a joint force of about 50 officers from police, local administration, the Department of Business Development, Commerce Office of Krabi, the Provincial Public Health Office, and the Employment Office. They executed a search warrant from the Krabi Provincial Court at a company in Moo 4, Sai Thai Subdistrict, Mueang Krabi District, which operates a cannabis farm. The investigation revealed the company might be violating laws by operating as a foreign business using Thai nominees. The raid was conducted with the participation of Moses Yamin, an Israeli national who claimed ownership of the company.
The company building serves as a cannabis farm cultivating various cannabis strains inside temperature-controlled rooms. Four Thais hold shares as nominees. Investigators also found potential violations such as selling cannabis online, providing delivery services, organizing tours for visitors to the farm, and allowing visitors to smoke cannabis on the premises. These actions breach legal conditions and regulations. Additionally, extraction of cannabis concentrates was found, violating narcotics laws due to THC content exceeding 0.2 percent.
Financial investigations revealed that in just one nominee account belonging to a prominent law firm in Krabi, over 40 million baht circulated. Authorities are still examining multiple other accounts and several related companies within the network.
Following the raid, the inspection team ordered a 60-day suspension of the business license. They are collecting evidence to revoke the license and pursue legal action against those involved according to the law.
Mr. Angoon Sila Thewagul, Governor of Krabi Province, stated that Krabi will not tolerate legal loopholes or allow foreigners to exploit illegal benefits. He instructed all agencies to strictly monitor related businesses to uphold the province’s good reputation.
