Second Army Commander Joins in Destroying Cambodian Rockets, Vows Constant Readiness

The Second Army Commander joined in destroying seven unexploded rockets fired by Cambodian soldiers out of a total of 169. He emphasized constant readiness, saying the situation remains normal and Cambodia has shown no significant activity.

On 21 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant General Weerayut Raksin, Second Army Commander, observed the destruction of cannon rockets and multiple BM-21 rockets at the northern embankment of Huai Ta Khiao Reservoir, Bueng Charoen Subdistrict, Ban Kruad District, Buriram Province. This safe area is far from communities and agricultural zones.

There were seven unexploded rockets to be destroyed, out of 169 fired by Cambodian forces into Thai civilian areas. The survey is ongoing, especially in the red zone and public water sources. Thai authorities have coordinated with Cambodia to notify them of the planned disposal.

Police Colonel Jetsarit Paengsrisarn, Deputy Commander of Buriram Provincial Police, said residents in the red zone have been warned: if suspicious objects are found, they should follow the three-step rule—do not touch, remember the location, and report immediately. Reports from local police indicate villagers are living normally while maintaining readiness.

Lieutenant General Weerayut Raksin, Second Army Commander, stated the situation remains normal with no significant Cambodian movements. He said it is uncertain if the situation will end soon, but emphasized the importance of preparedness: residents are ready, shelters are prepared, and the military is always on standby.
