On 23 Jan 2026, Ms. Kanokwan, 32, the young teacher who was driving the car, attended the funeral of Nong Gle, or 6-year-old Kanyavee Sangrai, the deceased girl. While lighting incense in front of the coffin, she broke down in tears.
She explained that she was on official business in Sisaket Province and took this route. She said she was not speeding but the road was narrow and the sunlight was glaring. Since she rarely uses this route, she admitted she did not see the girl because the sun was in her eyes. She expressed deep regret over the incident and affirmed her willingness to provide full compensation.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Waew Sangrai, 56, the girl’s grandmother, said she loved her grandchild very much and the girl would come to play with her every day. She admitted that after hearing the news and seeing the scene, she cried until she had no tears left and now cannot eat or sleep. She still cannot accept what happened because it was too sudden for such a young child to pass away prematurely. She said she does not know how she will live without her grandchild.
