Prosecutor Found Dead Inside Car with Letter to Mother Wife Reports Work Stress

A prosecutor was found dead inside a car parked by the roadside near a well-known school in Khon Kaen. He had a neck wound, and a letter addressed to his mother was found on the passenger seat. The family revealed he suffered from depression and had complained about work stress.

On 24 Jan 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that at 20:30 on the previous day (23 Jan), Police Lieutenant Colonel Sukrit Rithiron, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Ban Ped Police Station, received a report from the 191 radio center that locals found a white sedan parked on the road leading to Kaeng Nam Ton, near the entrance to Khon Kaen Wittayasuksa School in Ban Phuen Thong area, Ban Wa subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen district, about 1 kilometer from Lao Nadee Road. A deceased person was found inside the car. He notified his superiors and coordinated with forensic doctors from Srinagarind Hospital and Crime Scene Investigation Unit 4 in Khon Kaen to inspect the scene. He then proceeded to the site with Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasert Tumchim, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Ban Ped Police Station.

Upon arrival, they found a white electric sedan with Khon Kaen license plates parked beside the road. Using a flashlight to look inside, they saw the driver seated with blood covering the driver's seat. They quickly opened the driver's door to assist, but the driver was already deceased.

Police, medical personnel, and Crime Scene Investigation Unit 4 in Khon Kaen examined the body, which was still leaning against the seat. The victim wore a gray short-sleeved T-shirt and black long pants. There was a deep, four-inch stab wound on the neck that cut the windpipe, about 1.5 inches wide. Both hands were clenched, with blood covering the chest area and flowing down to the footrest. A six-inch pointed knife was found on the driver’s footrest.

A search of the car revealed the deceased was a rights protection prosecutor. There were no signs of struggle. On the rear seat footrest were a pair of white sports shoes and a tissue-wrapped package on the back seat, along with a small cushion. On the front passenger seat next to the driver’s side, a phone charging cable lay with a paper containing a phone number and a message addressed to his mother.

The officers investigating the scene reported that preliminary inquiries showed the victim went to work as usual from morning until about 3 p.m., then returned home to the city of Khon Kaen. Shortly after arriving home, he left again, leaving his phone at home. In the evening, his wife could not contact him, so she used the electric car’s tracking app and found the car parked on the road near the entrance to Khon Kaen Wittayasuksa School, where their child studies.

Upon checking, they found him deceased in the driver’s seat and notified the police. The family also informed the police that he suffered from depression and often complained about work-related stress. The initial cause of death is believed to be suicide.

After the scene inspection and preliminary autopsy, the body was handed over to the Khon Kaen Sawang Samakkhi Utit Foundation to take to the forensic department at Srinagarind Hospital for further examination. The body will then be released to the family for traditional funeral rites. Investigators will continue interviewing the family to determine the true cause of death.
