Pickup Truck from Chonburi Overturns on Return to Udon Thani, 2 Dead and 2 Critically Injured

A pickup truck from Chonburi returning to Udon Thani lost control and overturned, killing 2 and seriously injuring 2. Authorities suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

At 02:42 on 24 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Huk 31 rescue unit from Non Daeng district received reports of a pickup truck overturning on Mittraphap Road inbound to Khon Kaen. The crash happened at a curve near Ban Wang Hin, Wang Hin subdistrict, Non Daeng district, Nakhon Ratchasima. Rescue teams promptly rushed to the scene.

At the scene, a black Toyota 4-door pickup with Chonburi license plates was found flipped upside down with severe damage and wheels pointing skyward. Two people—a man and a woman—were found dead inside, trapped in the wreckage. Two men were critically injured and trapped inside as well. Huk 31 rescue workers used hydraulic cutters to free the injured and rushed them to Sida Hospital, also retrieving the deceased for transport to the same hospital.

Investigation revealed the pickup truck was carrying four passengers who worked in Chonburi, heading to Udon Thani. The vehicle was loaded with seafood including shrimp, shellfish, crabs, squid, and bags of clothing. At the curve before the highway police checkpoint, the truck lost control, collided with the guardrail, and overturned, crushing passengers inside. Two died on site while two were seriously injured. Police preliminarily believe the driver may have fallen asleep while driving.
