
Suvarnabhumi Airport is urgently preparing to establish screening points to prevent Nipah virus disease, randomly testing passengers arriving from India, where outbreaks have been reported.
On 24 January 2026, reports indicated that after cases of infection and deaths from the Nipah Virus (Nipah Virus) were found in India, the Department of Disease Control has been closely monitoring the situation, enforcing surveillance and screening measures for travelers at international disease control checkpoints. Although Thailand has not yet detected any cases, the public is advised to follow official information and remain calm.
Regarding Suvarnabhumi Airport, Mr. Kittipong Kittikhajorn, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, stated that the airport has held meetings with the Ministry of Public Health to plan surveillance measures. The airport will set up disease screening points.
Passengers arriving from India will be randomly screened if coming from cities experiencing Nipah virus outbreaks. The detailed preparations are currently underway on an urgent basis.
