Disease control checkpoint officials at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports have begun screening travelers from West Bengal, India, and have launched a hotline regarding the situation of the Nipah virus.
On 25 January 2026, disease control checkpoints at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports initiated screening procedures for travelers arriving from West Bengal, India, in accordance with health measures. They have received good cooperation from passengers passing through immigration channels, the Airports of Thailand, and related agencies.
Thai citizens planning to travel to India for tourism or pilgrimage are advised to prepare their health in advance, monitor official sources for disease updates, avoid traveling to outbreak areas unless necessary, avoid contact with reservoir and carrier animals, thoroughly wash fruit before eating, and wash hands with soap after touching animals, meat, or carcasses—especially bats, pigs, horses, cats, goats, and sheep. Anyone returning from India who experiences fever, headache, fatigue, cough, or neurological symptoms should see a doctor immediately.
Meanwhile, the Department of Disease Control has launched a hotline at 1422, operating daily from 08:00 to 20:00, to provide consultations on diseases and health risks, including the Nipah virus (NIPAH) situation.
