Cambodian soldiers have dug trenches in three areas over 1 kilometer long but maintain they have not encroached on Thai sovereignty. They have also submitted a protest letter after detecting drones crossing into Thai territory.
On 26 Jan 2026, reports stated the Navy addressed the case of Cambodian soldiers digging trenches opposite Ban Sam Lang area, Trat Province, in three locations: Ban Tha Sen, Ban Nong Ree, and Ban Chamra. Cambodia conducted this activity within its own territory. Currently, there is a standoff between Cambodian and Thai troops. Cambodian forces have dug additional trenches stretching over 1 kilometer alongside Thai troop positions. This occurred after the ceasefire, with Cambodia upgrading its base approximately 500 meters from the Thai trenches.
However, it was confirmed that Thai forces remain in their advantageous positions and that there has been no intrusion into Thai territory. Cambodia is operating within its own area.
Meanwhile, it was observed that Cambodia operated drones to patrol and monitor Thai forces. Thailand has already submitted a protest letter. The situation has not yet escalated to a new round of conflict and is under Thai surveillance because the area involves important terrain.
