A 14-year-old girl playing with friends was struck by a stray bullet that pierced her left cheek. She was sent for surgery to remove bullet fragments while the shooter remains on the run.
On 27 Jan 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that on 26 Jan, Police Colonel Chatri Rattanakot, Superintendent of Singhanakhon Police Station, received a report of a firearm shooting incident with injuries at Hua Khao community alley, Moo 4, Soi 2, Hua Khao Subdistrict, Singhanakhon District, Songkhla Province. He ordered Deputy Superintendent Suthian Ruengwarunwat and the Singhanakhon Police investigation team to promptly inspect the scene.
At the scene, in front of a local residence within the alley, a bloodstain was found, belonging to the injured victim, identified as 14-year-old girl Chalsara, who was hit by a stray bullet. Locals had already helped take her to Songkhla Hospital earlier.
During the inspection, police found one 11mm bullet casing, which was seized as evidence. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Nabawi, also known as Vee, who fled with the firearm after the incident.
Initial inquiries with residents revealed that while Chalsara and another girl were walking at an intersection, they heard Nabawi arguing with a young man from a different alley. The two were chasing each other, and Nabawi stopped at the intersection, pulled out a gun, and fired one shot backward. However, the bullet missed its target and struck Chalsara’s left cheek as she was walking by.
Chalsara soon felt pain and bleeding on her left cheek, then called for help from nearby residents who assisted in taking her to the hospital. She later lost consciousness. Meanwhile, Nabawi used the commotion to escape.
Police Colonel Chatri Rattanakot stated that he has ordered the investigation team to track and arrest the suspect. They are reviewing CCTV footage along the route the suspect used to flee. Authorities have also spoken with the suspect’s parents, urging them to persuade their son to surrender.
Later, reporters visited Songkhla Hospital and learned that Chalsara’s mother had traveled from Phuket after hearing about her daughter’s shooting. Reporters met Ms. Wasana, also known as Lina, 35 years old, Chalsara’s mother, and asked about her daughter’s condition and the incident.
Ms. Wasana explained that her daughter lived in Moo 6 and was playing at a friend’s house in Moo 4. During that time, a neighbor, who lives next to the suspect’s house, climbed over the suspect’s wall, which angered the suspect and led to an argument. The suspect took out a gun intending to scare the neighbor by aiming at his leg, but the bullet hit the ground and fragments struck her daughter’s cheek. She said the neighbor had climbed over the suspect’s wall several times before, and each time the suspect fired warning shots, but family members usually stopped him. This time, however, they could not intervene in time, resulting in the injury to her daughter.
After the incident, Chalsara saw her bleeding heavily and fainted. Nearby youths quickly took her to Songkhla Hospital. X-rays showed bullet fragments lodged in her left cheekbone, so doctors performed surgery to remove them. Doctors said fortunately the fragments did not hit vital areas. Post-surgery, she is safe but cannot yet speak. Her cheekbone is swollen and painful. The mother urged police to quickly arrest the suspect and seek justice for her daughter.
