Suvarnabhumi Airport clarified the case of a social media video showing an incident inside the airport, revealing it was an old event from 2022. The airport quickly controlled the situation without affecting passengers and emphasized readiness to pursue strict legal action.
On 27 Jan 2026 GMT+7, following a social media post on 26 Jan 2026 GMT+7 by the Facebook page "Khaosod Channel 8" that shared a clip of an incident inside Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) with the caption "Suvarnabhumi in turmoil! A man goes berserk in the parking lot, drug-induced, tries to hijack a plane, may face charges," without clearly specifying when the event occurred. This caused public misunderstanding that it was a current event, leading to widespread criticism and questions about the airport's security measures.
Suvarnabhumi Airport explained that the clip shows an incident from 2022, during which the airport rapidly and effectively controlled the situation according to emergency and security protocols. The trespasser was arrested and prosecuted decisively. The event did not affect the safety of passengers, staff, or airport operations. Afterwards, the airport coordinated with relevant agencies to review and continuously enhance security measures to meet international safety standards.
However, the Facebook page's reposting of the old clip without clearly stating the timing misled the public into believing it was a current event. This damaged the airport's image and public confidence in its operations. Such actions constitute spreading false information and may violate Section 14 of the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2560 (2017), punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both.
Recently, the airport has contacted the page to remove the clip. If the page fails to comply, Suvarnabhumi Airport will strictly and firmly pursue all relevant legal actions against the publisher.
The airport requests public cooperation in exercising discretion when receiving and sharing information, refraining from forwarding content that may cause misunderstanding, alarm, or harm to the public or other organizations.
