Governor of Nakhon Nayok Urges Pak Phli Police Chief to Investigate Arson Causing Fire to Spread Across Tens of Thousands of Rai

The Governor of Nakhon Nayok has instructed the Pak Phli Police Chief to investigate the perpetrators after a deliberate fire caused flames to spread across tens of thousands of rai of fields in Nakhon Nayok Province.

On 28 Jan 2026, reports stated that on the evening of 27 Jan, the Nakhon Nayok Provincial Disaster Prevention Office mobilized water trucks from every subdistrict administrative organization across Nakhon Nayok Province, along with Ruamkatanyu Rescue Foundation and other local rescue teams. They brought water trucks and personnel to help contain the wildfire spreading in Tha Ruea subdistrict, Pak Phli District, Nakhon Nayok Province, as the fire expanded and began approaching residential areas.

A planning meeting was held at Lam Bua Loi temple hall, attended by Mr. Chanon Wasiksiri, Governor of Nakhon Nayok, the deputy governor, provincial disaster prevention officials, the Pak Phli district chief, the Pak Phli police chief, firefighters from several subdistricts, rescue teams in Nakhon Nayok, and officials from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation. They coordinated and distributed tasks to control the expanding fire.

Governor Chanon Wasiksiri told the operational staff that he was aware the fire started the previous night. He recognized it was not a normal incident and expected no further outbreaks by morning, but the fire continued into the afternoon. He believes this incident may have been premeditated.

He also thanked all parties involved in firefighting efforts and urged everyone to watch the area closely for any suspicious activity. He said the incident brought no benefit to the community, citing the smoke affecting a 75-year-old elderly resident who had difficulty breathing, as well as children and other villagers exposed to the smoke. He stated this was caused by a selfish group deliberately burning fields, causing the crisis in Tha Ruea subdistrict. He instructed the Pak Phli police chief to apprehend those responsible.

Initially, officials sprayed water around high-risk areas and created firebreaks to prevent further spread to vulnerable zones. They arranged for personnel to maintain watch shifts and monitor the situation throughout the night, with a follow-up report to the Governor of Nakhon Nayok scheduled for the next day.
