Army Explains Delay in Allowance Payments for Border Combat Soldiers

The Army explains the issue of allowance payments for border soldiers being delayed, while assuring that personnel who sacrifice and serve in border areas will receive the best care.

On 28 Jan 2026, the Facebook pageArmy Spoke Teamposted a message stating, "The Army clarifies that combat personnel allowances have been received from the Comptroller General’s Department and transferred to the units. Currently, the process of disbursing funds to personnel on duty is underway.

Regarding inquiries from personnel and the public about the delay in allowance payments for military units operating at the border, the Army would like to clarify as follows.

Due to the combat situation at the border during fiscal year 2025, the Army deployed additional personnel to support Suranaree and Burapha forces. As a result, the originally planned 2026 budget did not cover the increased expenses. The Army therefore requested additional budget support from the central budget starting October 2025.

However, since this coincided with the dissolution of parliament, the budget approval process had to follow legal protocols and required additional review and authorization steps, causing delays beyond normal circumstances. While awaiting central budget approval, the Army temporarily advanced some funds from its own budget to personnel to urgently alleviate difficulties.

Currently, the Army has received the budget transfer from the Comptroller General’s Department and has promptly transferred funds to operational units. The entire transfer process was completed last week, and units are now processing payments to personnel as quickly as possible.

The Army thanks everyone for their concern toward the soldiers and reiterates that caring for the rights and welfare of personnel is a core policy of the Commander-in-Chief. This ensures that personnel serving and sacrificing in border areas receive the best care, providing vital morale and encouragement in their mission to protect sovereignty and public peace."
