Warning Issued for High Tides and Saltwater Intrusion from 31 Jan to 4 Feb

The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has issued a warning to monitor high tides from 31 January to 4 February 2026 in low-lying areas along the Chao Phraya, Tha Chin, and Mae Klong rivers, communities outside flood embankments, as well as along Sukhumvit, Suksawat, and Rama 2 roads.

On 28 January 2025, the Office of the National Water Resources announced a high tide watch from 31 January to 4 February 2026.

1. The influence of high tides combined with the northeast monsoon will raise sea levels, causing river levels to rise and possibly flood low-lying areas along the Chao Phraya, Tha Chin, and Mae Klong rivers, communities outside flood embankments, and temporary embankment areas without permanent barriers (leakage points), including transportation routes on Sukhumvit, Suksawat, and Rama 2 roads.

2. Monitor saltwater intrusion affecting water quality for consumption, domestic use, and agriculture.

Relevant agencies are urged to monitor high tides in the provinces of Samut Prakan, Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Songkhram.
