A car lost control and slid into a roadside ditch, overturning in Chanthaburi province, resulting in eight injuries. Rescue teams urgently used hydraulic cutters to free those trapped inside before transporting them to the hospital.
At 04:40 on 29 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the Khlung Foundation rescue center received a report of a car accident where a vehicle had skidded off the road and overturned, trapping four people inside and injuring a total of eight. Upon notification, Police Lieutenant Colonel Mongkol Wingwon, the investigating officer from Khlung Police Station, and rescue teams from the Khlung Foundation proceeded to the scene. The accident occurred beside a large drainage ditch near Jitrasom Resort along Sukhumvit Road heading out toward Trat, in Village No. 9, Kwiankhak Subdistrict, Khlung District, Chanthaburi province. They found a black Honda CRV registered in Chanthaburi overturned on its side in the large ditch, with the front severely damaged. Fortunately, it was the dry season, so no water was in the ditch.
Inside the vehicle were eight occupants including the driver. Rescue teams managed to free four people, one of whom was critically injured and unconscious.
The remaining four, including the driver, were trapped inside. The Khlung Foundation rescue team had to use hydraulic cutters to remove the door frame to extract the injured. The first person was critically injured and unconscious; the second had bodily injuries but was conscious and able to respond.
The third, named Chaiwat, 21, from Trat province and the driver, was critically injured and unconscious. The fourth was a man injured in the shoulder, conscious but crying in pain. The rescue team took over 40 minutes to free all accident victims from the vehicle. The Khlung Foundation then rushed four injured to Makham Hospital and the other four to Khlung Hospital, with one—driver Chaiwat—transferred to Phrapokklao Hospital due to critical condition.
Sutis Sutinakart, a truck driver who witnessed the accident, said he was driving behind the vehicle when he saw it lose control after hitting the guardrail, causing it to veer off the road and crash, resulting in the injuries.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mongkol Wingwon, the investigating officer from Khlung Police Station, documented and thoroughly inspected the scene. The initial cause is believed to be driver fatigue. Authorities are awaiting alcohol test results to determine the exact cause of the accident.
