Pathum Thani – A tense incident occurred when a 4-year-old child accidentally twisted the throttle of a Vespa motorcycle, causing it to crash through the window of a convenience store. Both the child and her aunt were injured. The group of four had the engine running and were about to park and get off. The child, sitting at the front, pressed the throttle fully.
At 19:00 on 29 January 2026, Police Lieutenant Amnat Nimnuan, investigating officer from Ku Bang Luang Police Station, received a report from a convenience store employee that a motorcycle had lost control and crashed into the store located at Soi Ku Kwang 11, Village No. 5, Ku Kwang Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province. He promptly went to the scene along with Ku Kwang municipal rescue and Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers.
At the scene, a white Vespa Sprint motorcycle with license plate 9ขค1492 Bangkok was found crashed into the store’s entrance door, with the vehicle pushed inside. Two people were injured: a 4-year-old girl and Ms. Chanita Nantaphan, 31, from Surin Province, who is the child’s aunt. Both had wounds on their bodies and were cut on their arms and legs by glass shards.
Ms. Chanita, the motorcycle driver, said she was riding with four people to buy items at the store. While parking, she did not turn off the engine. Two passengers at the back got off the motorcycle. As the 4-year-old niece sitting in front was about to get off, she accidentally grabbed the throttle. The motorcycle then surged forward, crashing through the store’s glass door, injuring both her and her niece. Rescue personnel provided first aid and transported them to Krung Siam Saint Carlos Hospital.
Ku Bang Luang police officers inspected the scene, questioned the convenience store staff and the injured about the incident, and arranged for Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers to take the motorcycle to Ku Bang Luang Police Station for safekeeping. They will coordinate with the injured parties for recording the incident and handling the damage compensation.
