The key is to stay calm and composed. "Swimming coach" performs CPR to save a life "drowned gecko" Miracles do happen. Initially motionless, the gecko was eventually revived and is now safe.
A TikTok user posted a video showing CPR being performed on a gecko, with the caption: "A heartwarming moment, miracles are real. Coach Ta fought to save this little one’s life. But in the end, whether the six little lives survive or not, let's watch and hope together. The gecko was underwater for a long time before the decision was made to perform CPR. Watch until the end for the outcome—it will warm your heart."
On 30 Jan 2026 GMT+7, a reporter visited the Nongprue Municipal Swimming Pool building in Nongprue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, and met Mr. Sarayut Nokwon, 40, known as Coach Ta, the swimming coach and owner of the video showing the rescue of the drowned gecko. He recounted, "Every morning, I inspect the swimming pool’s condition. Yesterday, while cleaning, I saw the gecko floating up from underwater. At first, I poked it with a stick and it was still moving, but after a while, it became still, so I picked it up."
He noticed the gecko’s belly was full of water. Thinking that just as with a person who has drowned, if helped quickly, they can be saved, he decided to help the animal out of compassion. Not knowing the exact location of the gecko’s heart, he gently pressed the middle of its front leg. After pressing for a while, water came out of the gecko’s mouth, and soon it regained consciousness. It seemed the gecko had swallowed a lot of water, much like a drowning person.
Normally, if a drowning person is helped in time, they can be saved. Animals have lives just like humans. I want to remind everyone that when helping drowning victims, the most important thing is to stay calm, assess the situation and your own ability to help, and look for something to offer the victim to hold onto if they are not fully submerged. If help is given promptly and correctly, it can save drowning victims.".
