Gen. Boonsin Pays Homage to Sacred Sites at Ta Muean and Khna Temples, Confirms Main Buddha Statue Unharmed Amid Clashes

Gen. Boonsin visited Surin province to pay homage to the sacred sites of Ta Muean and Khna temples, while also presenting amulets and supplies to encourage frontline soldiers. He revealed that during the clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, bullets and explosives fell on military bases, but the main Buddha statue was unharmed.

On 31 Jan 2026, Gen. Boonsin Padklang, advisor to the army commander, traveled to Surin province. He stopped to pay respects to Buddha statues and sacred objects at important ancient sites along the Thai-Cambodian border for good fortune.

Gen. Boonsin paid respects to Buddha statues he had previously installed during his tenure as commander of the 2nd Army Area at Prasat Ta Muean Thom and Prasat Ta Muean Tod, and also honored sacred objects at Prasat Khna.

The Buddha statues in question were important ones Gen. Boonsin, as former 2nd Army Area commander, had installed at border military bases such as Phu Ma Kuea, Prasat Ta Muean Thom, and Prasat Khna. These statues, including the "Somdej Phra Phuttha Maha Chakkraphat" or "Luang Pho Yai Chok Dee" and the imperial-style Buddha statue, serve to boost morale and provide spiritual support to troops protecting the homeland.

The installation of these Buddha statues was part of a series of ceremonies placing principal Buddha images along the lower northeastern border to bring good fortune and ward off misfortune. During past clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border, bullets and explosives from Cambodia landed in several military base areas. However, the Buddha statues at these locations remained completely undamaged.

Additionally, Gen. Boonsin presented amulets and essential supplies to soldiers on duty in the area to boost their morale and support their mission to safeguard the nation's security and sovereignty.
