Dramatic Moment: 3-Year-Old Child Runs Across Road, Narrowly Avoids Being Hit by Truck Good Samaritan Saves the Day

Dashcam footage captures a tense moment when a 3-year-old child ran across a road, narrowly avoiding being hit by a large truck. Luckily, a good Samaritan grabbed the child just in time to save their life.

The incident became a cautionary clip widely shared across social media when a Facebook user namedJeed Janjiraposted dashcam footage of the life-threatening moment. The video showed a small child suddenly running out onto the Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok road (between Khlong 10 and 11) amid fast-moving traffic. Fortunately, a good Samaritan and the clip's owner managed to intervene and prevent tragedy.

On 1 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters visited the scene in front of a housing estate near Khlong 11 in Thanyaburi district, where they met Ms. Janjira Mangkhlad, the clip's owner. She described the heart-stopping moment: While driving slowly with her partner, they suddenly saw a small child dart onto the main road. Her partner slammed on the brakes and stopped the car to block the lane, turned on the hazard lights, and honked continuously to startle the child into stopping before reaching the far right lane, where a trailer truck was approaching.

At that moment, a young couple on a motorcycle passing by witnessed the scene. They quickly stopped and ran to grab the child just seconds before the truck passed. Ms. Janjira said she couldn’t sleep that night, as images of the child running kept replaying in her mind. She noted that traffic on this road is usually very fast, but somehow she felt compelled to drive slower than usual that day—possibly because she had made merit by offering alms that morning—which allowed her to stop in time and help save the child.

Mr. Thawit Khumkaew, 62, the child's grandfather, explained that the child had been playing inside the house but suddenly ran into the house and locked the door from the inside, trapping his grandfather outside. He grabbed a ladder to climb inside to reach the child. However, just seconds after he entered, the child ran out of the house gate straight toward the road and onto the main street. He added that the family usually takes great care, tying the fence and locking the house because the child likes to wander. This incident was truly an unfortunate and unforeseeable event.

The grandfather and family expressed their gratitude to the two good Samaritans on the motorcycle who helped carry the child back home, as well as to the clip owner who honked and stopped her car to block traffic. Without their quick actions, the family said a devastating loss might have occurred, one impossible to measure in value.
