Woman frightened after seeing a "mysterious light" flickering at night on "Hair Shaving and Buddhist Holy Days" she is afraid to leave the house at night; some say it is the spirit of Krasue, Pob, or Phong depending on beliefs
On 2 February 2026, reporters received reports that villagers had seen a mysterious greenish-orange light flickering above the ground near the entrance to a village, in a relatively remote area of Village No. 9, Subdistrict Sap Samo Thot, Bueng Sam Phan District, Phetchabun Province. The light appears during the nights of Hair Shaving and Buddhist Holy Days, causing unease. People are too scared to return home late or go out at night.
Reporters later visited the location, which is quite isolated with no houses nearby, surrounded by agricultural land.
Ms. La-ongdao, 42, the owner of the video clip, said she saw a large light about the size of a soccer ball, glowing bright greenish-orange, floating up and down. She was very scared and quickly rode her motorcycle to the main road where there are houses and streetlights about one kilometer away, and recorded the clip with her phone. She does not know what the light is but often sees it during Hair Shaving and Buddhist Holy Days. The most recent sighting was the third time. She is very scared and no longer dares to ride her motorcycle alone to work and now has her boyfriend accompany her.
Many local villagers have also seen the light. Some say it is the spirit of Krasue, Pob, or Phong, which come out to feed on Buddhist Holy Days, depending on their beliefs. But for her, it is very frightening, and she does not know exactly what the light really is.
