Fire Destroys Nearly Entire Sit Chansing Boxing Gym Famous Boxer Kongsayam A. Wutthipong Suffers Minor Burns

A fire broke out at the "Sit Chansing" boxing gym in Soi Somdet Chaophraya 5, destroying nearly the entire building. Renowned boxer "Kongsayam A. Wutthipong" suffered minor burn injuries. Police are preparing to coordinate with forensic officers to inspect the scene and investigate the cause.

At 21:34 GMT+7 on 3 Feb 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Narongrit Moli, investigation officer at Buppharam Police Station, received a report of a fire at the "Sit Chansing" boxing gym in Soi Somdet Chaophraya 5, Somdet Chaophraya Subdistrict, Khlong San District, Bangkok. He promptly went to the scene, coordinating with fire and rescue units from Pak Khlong San, dispatching three water trucks and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

The scene was a two-story wooden house serving as a boxing gym with a secure fence. Large flames and thick smoke were seen billowing from the second floor of the building before rapidly spreading. Firefighters sprayed water for about 30 minutes before extinguishing the blaze, which destroyed nearly the entire structure.

They found Mr. Khwanchai Plienkhuntod, 23, known in the boxing world as "Kongsayam A. Wutthipong," a famous boxer, who had sustained burn injuries on his back. Volunteers provided initial first aid before transporting him to Taksin Hospital.

Mr. Chananet Thongsairee, 45, the gym chief, said he was on the ground floor when staff alerted him to a burning smell. Upon checking, he found the entire second floor ablaze; this floor housed the boxers' rooms. No one was inside at the time because the staff had gone out to buy food in the Charoen Nakhon area.

Mr. Khwanchai, or Kongsayam, said that after going out to buy food and returning, he saw the fire spreading. He rushed inside to retrieve belongings and was burned on his back. His injuries were initially reported as not serious.

After the fire was extinguished, investigators from Buppharam Police Station prepared to coordinate with forensic officers to conduct a thorough examination of the site to determine the fire's cause and to assess the extent of the damage.
