
The Tak Task Force clashed with a drug trafficking convoy before they escaped near Ban Pha Mee, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, where 312 kilograms of ice were seized as evidence.
At 13:00 on 4 Feb 2026, Maj. Gen. Satit Waiyanon, Commander of the Pha Muang Task Force, ordered Col. Suphan Roiput, Commander of the Tak Task Force, to investigate after soldiers from the 2nd Company, Tak Task Force, clashed with 10-15 drug traffickers carrying backpacks crossing the border near Ban Pha Mee, Village No. 6, Wiang Pang Kham Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province. Following the encounter, two additional operational teams reinforced the area to secure it, while the traffickers fled into the darkness.
Clearing the scene revealed 13 backpacks made from modified sacks, each containing 24 kilograms of ice, totaling approximately 312 kilograms. The evidence was seized and handed over to Mae Sai Police Station for legal proceedings.
Maj. Gen. Satit Waiyanon, Commander of the Pha Muang Task Force, stated that from 1 Oct 2025 to the present, authorities have intercepted drugs 202 times, arrested 214 suspects, and seized 101,701,483 methamphetamine pills, 1.3 kilograms of heroin, 2,205 kilograms of ice, 4.8 kilograms of opium, and 327.2 kilograms of ketamine. There have been 31 clashes with traffickers, resulting in 16 deaths. He added that if the seized drugs were transported to Bangkok, they would cause economic damage valued at 20.734 billion baht.
