The Second Army Commander affirmed that the troops are always prepared to defend sovereignty and urged the public to be assured. Should another clash occur, he and all soldiers are unafraid and ready to perform their duties to the best of their abilities.
On 6 February 2026, reporters reported that Lieutenant General Weerayut Raksin, the Second Army Commander, spoke about the Thai-Cambodian border situation during the press conference for the annual event honoring King Naresuan the Great at the Second Army Headquarters within Suranaree Camp, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This followed images of Cambodian soldiers patrolling across the border and provoking Thai soldiers along the front line. He said, “I speak on behalf of my fellow soldiers stationed along the Thai-Cambodian border.”
“In the current situation, we have continuously maintained readiness at all times, regardless of the conflict. We have received support and cooperation from the public and encouragement from all sectors. Whether there will be a third, fourth, or fifth clash, we must continue to assess the situation periodically, but I assure you that we are always prepared to carry out our mission to protect the nation's sovereignty.”
“Therefore, the public need not worry about a third or fourth battle because if we remain united, the troops are ready, and the people are loyal to the nation in all sectors, then at this time, whether there is a third, fourth, or fifth clash, I am not afraid, and neither are the brave soldiers. I want to assure everyone that ‘we will perform our duties to the best of our abilities.’”
