Buriram Border Polling Units Collect Ballot Boxes and Election Materials

Officials, election committee members, and security personnel from all 72 polling units in Constituency 9, Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province, located along the Thai-Cambodian border, traveled to receive ballot boxes, voting booths, and election materials for the upcoming general election and referendum scheduled for Sunday, 8 Feb 2026.

At 09:00 on 7 Feb 2026, at the Ban Kruat District Office auditorium in Buriram, which served as the handover point for ballot boxes, voting booths, and election materials, officials from all 72 polling units—covering Ban Kruat, Prasat, Bueng Charoen, Chanthabphet, and Nong Mai Ngam subdistricts of Ban Kruat District—received the materials for the general election and referendum in Constituency 9.




The chairpersons and committee members of the polling units, along with security personnel, came to collect ballot boxes, voting booths, and election materials to store for use in the general election and referendum on Sunday, 8 Feb 2026, from 08:00 to 17:00. The atmosphere was orderly, with Ban Kruat District Chief Mr. Ekawat Puangprakorn, local administrative officials, and members of the Territorial Defense Volunteers assisting with logistics and security.




Ban Kruat District in Buriram is divided into two constituencies: Constituency 9, which includes 72 polling units covering Ban Kruat, Prasat, Bueng Charoen, Chanthabphet, and Nong Mai Ngam subdistricts; and Constituency 10, which has 47 polling units covering Khao Din Nuea, Non Charoen, Hin Lat, and Sai Ta Khu subdistricts.




Constituency 9 has a total of 248 polling units with 128,188 registered voters. It covers Non Din Daeng District (except Non Din Daeng subdistrict), Lahan Sai District, Ban Kruat District (only the five subdistricts mentioned), and Chaloem Phra Kiat District (specifically Yai Yaem Watthana, Isan Khet, and Ta Pek subdistricts). There are nine candidates competing in this constituency.




Key candidates include Mr. Rungroj Thongsri from the Bhumjaithai Party, brother of Mr. Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Interior and Deputy Leader of Bhumjaithai Party, a four-term incumbent. The main opponent from the Pheu Thai Party is Mr. Torpong Jeenjainam, while the Prachachon Party candidate is Mr. Seksan Suriya.




The overall atmosphere during the collection of ballot boxes, voting booths, and election materials across all 10 constituencies and 23 districts of Buriram Province, totaling 2,718 polling units, was orderly. Police, Territorial Defense Volunteers, and local security forces maintained strict security during counting, transportation, storage, and the election process to prevent loss or theft.





Buriram's 10 constituencies have a total of 88 candidates, 2,718 polling units, and 1,261,252 registered voters. Constituency 1 has 271 polling units with 125,325 voters; Constituency 2 has 273 units with 127,640 voters; Constituency 3 has 277 units with 125,637 voters; Constituency 4 has 267 units with 121,519 voters.


Constituency 5 has 314 polling units with 130,911 voters; Constituency 6 has 306 units with 130,776 voters; Constituency 7 has 267 units with 122,986 voters; Constituency 8 has 276 units with 126,969 voters; Constituency 9 has 248 units with 128,188 voters; and Constituency 10 has 219 units with 121,301 voters.
