Khon Kaen Election Commission Urges Voters to Participate, Warns Against Wearing Numbered Shirts to Avoid Election Law Violations

Khon Kaen has received ballot boxes for the 2026 election, with polling station staff receiving election equipment. The Election Commission reminds voters to exercise their rights and warns against wearing shirts with numbers that risk violating election laws.

At 10:00 a.m. on 6 Feb 2026 GMT+7, at the Khon Kaen City Municipality Office, ballot boxes and referendum voting materials were received for Khon Kaen's 1st electoral district, which includes Nai Mueang, Phra Lap, and Mueang Kao subdistricts, totaling 175 polling stations. Officials arrived together to collect materials, with polling station staff receiving equipment continuously to ensure smooth operations and reduce crowding.

Officials organized the distribution of election materials in scheduled rounds, providing ballot boxes, ballots, voter lists, and related equipment completely. The district election director and relevant officials closely supervised the process.

Mr. Watchara Sisan, Director of the Khon Kaen Election Commission said that since early morning, 11 polling stations have received election materials smoothly. This point covers the entire 1st electoral district with 175 polling stations. The system for receiving materials is proceeding smoothly in every aspect. He confirmed 100% readiness of personnel, equipment, and polling locations.

Election law prohibits candidates and related persons from campaigning from 6:00 p.m. one day before the election until 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. All forms of campaigning must cease, especially candidates and their teams who must avoid wearing party symbols or numbers, as this could be considered illegal campaigning during the prohibited period. The EC requests the public to avoid wearing shirts with numbers unless necessary, as it may cause confusion and risk violating election laws.

“On election eve, we have been continuously monitoring and surveilling all areas with investigative teams. If citizens witness violations or potential breaches of the law, they can report tips to the provincial Election Commission offices. Currently, there are five complaints under review: four regarding bribery and one concerning gift-giving. All are being handled by the investigation committee.”

Mr. Panthep Saokosol, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen, stated that the province has instructed government officials to remain neutral during the election, including village heads and community leaders. The Ministry of Interior has also emphasized that all personnel involved in the election at provincial, district, subdistrict, and village levels must strictly maintain neutrality.
