OEC Hackathon#2 Concludes with “Fireworks” Team from Waree Chiang Mai Winning the Championship

OEC Hackathon#2 concluded with the “Fireworks” team from Waree Chiang Mai claiming the championship and receiving the royal plaque presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.


On 7 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prawit Erawwan, Secretary-General of the Education Council, presided over the closing ceremony of OEC Hackathon#2: Hack my Hometown — Thinking, Creating, Transforming for Sustainable Strong Communities. Stakeholders and the 10 finalist teams of senior high school and vocational certificate students attended the event at Riverine Place Hotel and Residence in Nonthaburi Province.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prawit said the OEC Hackathon organized by the Education Council invited participants nationwide to develop essential skill sets among Thai youth. This year focused on finding student teams with innovative ideas to build sustainable strong communities. Out of 614 teams across the country, 10 were rigorously selected as finalists. He expressed confidence that participants will continue confidently and create widespread public impact like a cyclone.

The 10 finalist teams presented their projects and received feedback from expert judges. The winning team, awarded the OEC championship and the royal plaque from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, along with a 10,000 baht cash prize and certificate, was: The Fireworks team from Waree Chiang Mai School. Their project was an intelligent forest fire monitoring system for high-risk areas using satellite data and large language models (LLM) to analyze fire spread and issue alerts via social media. The team members included team advisor Mr. Sanya Chornchom, and members Lee Zhenyi, Nattapat Kongsiriworakul, Sathanthorn Somsorn, and Yanantorn Meunhong.

The first runner-up received an award plaque from the Education Council Secretariat, along with a 7,000 baht cash prize and certificate. This was the Nong Mo FC team from Chulabhorn Science School Nakhon Si Thammarat with the project "AN AI AUTONOMOUS ROBOT FOR DETECTING DISEASE IN COFFEE LEAF."

The second runner-up also received an award plaque from the Education Council Secretariat, a 4,000 baht cash prize, and a certificate. This was the GoTogether team from Chiang Mai University Demonstration School with the project "Umami Spoon," developing a spoon to help modify sodium consumption behavior.
