Weather Forecast for Election Day, 8 February 2026: Bangkok Metropolitan Area and Surrounding Provinces May Experience Isolated Thunderstorms

The Meteorological Department Weather forecast Election day On 8 February 2026, the Northeast region will experience strong winds, while the Central region, Bangkok metropolitan area, and Eastern region have chances of isolated thunderstorms.

On 8 February 2026, the Meteorological Department of Thailand forecasted that over the next 24 hours, a new moderate to quite strong high-pressure system or cold air mass from China has already spread over southern China and northern Vietnam. It is expected to extend to cover upper Laos, the upper Northeast, and the South China Sea today (8 Feb 2026). This pattern will bring strong winds and a temperature drop of 1-3 degrees Celsius in the Northeast. At the same time, southerly and southeasterly winds will bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand into the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the Eastern region, causing isolated thunderstorms in those areas.

Residents in the upper part of Thailand are advised to take care of their health due to changing weather conditions. Farmers should prepare to protect and guard against damage to crops and livestock caused by rain or thunderstorms and increasing winds.

The Southern region will still experience isolated thunderstorms due to the northeast monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and the Southern region. Winds in the lower Gulf of Thailand will be moderate, with wave heights of 1-2 meters. In areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to navigate with caution.

During this period, particulate matter accumulation and haze in the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, are at moderate levels due to poor air ventilation and weakening winds.
