The chair of the Tha Tako polling station denied false reports regarding viral claims that ballots had been pre-marked, and announced plans to sue the poster for defamation.
On 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reports emerged that an online post accused the election in Tha Tako district's constituency 4, Nakhon Sawan province, of having ballots that were already marked, preventing candidates from the People's Party from exercising their voting rights.
Recently, reporters visited Wat Nong Phak Wan, Village No. 11, Phanom Rok subdistrict, Tha Tako district, Nakhon Sawan province, the location referenced on social media, and met with teacher Somkid Popinit, chair of the polling station, and Ms. Anchalee Jindathip, an election subcommittee member.
Both officials said that around noon, a People's Party candidate came to the polling station seeking to inspect the ballots but was denied entry by staff. A discussion took place outside, and upon clarifying the facts, it was determined the allegations were untrue. The candidate then left.
The officials added that as government teachers, they would not risk their reputations by committing the violations claimed online. Each ballot is thoroughly checked; any marks or scratches in a candidate's box would be visible to voters immediately, as ballots are shown and signed for before being marked and cast into the ballot box.
When asked if he felt discouraged, teacher Somkid admitted he was disheartened and would reconsider serving as election staff in the future. Regarding legal action, he said they have coordinated with relevant authorities and plan to file a criminal complaint against those spreading the false information.
