The First Naval Area Command dispatched warships to chase away 25 Cambodian fishing boats that intruded about one nautical mile into Thai waters before accelerating away back to their shore.
On 9 Feb 2026 GMT+7, a report from the First Naval Area base revealed that on 7 Feb 2026 GMT+7, maritime intelligence detected numerous Cambodian fishing boats illegally entering Thai waters near bearing line 211, raising concerns over maritime security.
Subsequently, Rear Admiral Chalermchai Suankaew, Commander of the First Naval Area Command, ordered the commander of the Gulf of Thailand patrol boats to dispatch vessels T.996 and T.265 urgently to investigate the reported area.
By 14:00 on the same day, the two vessels arrived at the scene and found about 25 Cambodian fishing boats clearly intruding approximately one nautical mile beyond the Thai-Cambodian maritime boundary.
However, when the Cambodian fishing boats spotted the Thai patrol vessels, they changed course and accelerated to flee back to Cambodian shores, preventing immediate pursuit or capture.
Latest reports confirm all Cambodian fishing boats have returned to their own waters, while vessels T.996 and T.265 continue patrolling along bearing line 211 to monitor and deter repeated incursions in the upper Gulf of Thailand.
