A gunman attacked a school in Songkhla, injuring a student who jumped from the building's second floor. Officials assisted and transported the student to hospital for treatment.

On 11 Feb 2026, reporters reported that a gunman armed with a firearm invaded Patong Prathan Keereewat School in Patong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, taking an unknown number of students and teachers hostage. Initial reports indicated one teacher was shot and injured. Rescue and emergency personnel were entering the scene to provide assistance, as previously reported.

Recently, the Facebook page "Central Investigation Police" posted the following message: "Urgent: Police have shot the gunman involved in the Hat Yai shooting incident."

Reports indicate the suspect was in a delusional state originating from home, triggered by his sister being punished by a teacher. The suspect was upset and demanded an apology from the teacher, who refused. The suspect then stole a police officer's firearm and used it to commit the attack at the school. Injured hostages have been transported to hospital.

Additionally, a student was injured after jumping from the second floor to escape the attacker. Officials have taken the student to hospital for treatment.
