Introducing the history of Phatong Prathan Kirivat School, located in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, along with the origin of its name, which honors and commemorates the land donors.
Regarding the incident where a gunman used a firearm inside Phatong Prathan Kirivat School in Songkhla at 16:45 on 11 February 2026, resulting in injuries and the hostage-taking of some students and teachers inside the school building. Authorities have since successfully apprehended the perpetrator through tactical operations, making many aware of the event.
As for the history of Phatong Prathan Kirivat School, it is located on Municipal Road 31, Phatong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. It was officially established by the Ministry of Education on 25 March 1982 under the name “Phatong Subdistrict Secondary School.” Later, the name was changed to Phatong Prathan Kirivat School to honor key contributors to the school's founding and support: Mr. Nikorn Prathan-Ratnikorn and Mr. Wira Kirivat, who each donated 20 rai of land, totaling 40 rai, along with initial funds for constructing the school buildings.
Subsequently, the Department of General Education appointed Mr. Supot Thongpricha as principal on 29 April 1982. He assumed the position on 20 May 1982 while the school buildings were still under construction, leading to the school opening being postponed to 1 June 1982. The community regards 1 June every year as the school's founding anniversary. The school’s education system has progressively developed and improved. Mrs. Sasiphat Sinsomros currently serves as the principal.
