Teacher J Explains Why an 18-Year-Old Man Armed with a Gun Stormed Phatong School, Denies Punishing Students

"Teacher J" provides an explanation revealing why an 18-year-old man armed with a gun stormed Phatong School to look for someone before brutally shooting the director and students, affirming that rumors about punishing children are untrue.

In the case where an armed man entered Phatong Prathankiriwat School, Phatong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, taking students hostage and shooting the director and two female students injured on the evening of 11 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the director has since died at Hat Yai Hospital. The perpetrator is an 18-year-old local youth with a history of psychiatric treatment related to substance abuse, discharged from hospital in December 2025. There were also rumors that the motive involved dissatisfaction because the man could not find a teacher who had punished his younger sister.

Recently, the Facebook page Drama-addict shared a post from a Facebook user, containing a statement from a teacher referenced by the perpetrator during the Hat Yai incident yesterday. The message read, “Everyone, I truly couldn’t answer calls yesterday because it was chaotic until nearly midnight. I thought I was going to die. Yesterday, my mind was completely blank. Surviving felt unbelievable...”

The perpetrator called for Teacher J because his younger sister is a student in Teacher J’s class. This student frequently missed school. The perpetrator had arguments with his sister and father at home, became mentally unstable, and came to see Teacher J to talk about his sister’s studies. I believe this is approximately the reason.

But the news claiming that Teacher J punished or was angry with the student is not true. Teacher J has the kindest heart in the world. She is very confused by the various news reports. This is Teacher J’s voice. I spoke with her; she is very saddened by the loss of the director. Everyone is very grief-stricken and crying together. It is extremely tragic today.
