
The Supreme Patriarch praised the courage of Director Sasiphat Sinsoonsorn of Patong Pra Than Kirivat School in Songkhla, who risked his life to protect students, and bestowed a monetary gift, a monk's robe, and sandalwood.
On 12 February 2026, the Secretariat of the Supreme Patriarch issued a letter granting royal grace and blessings to the Director of the National Office of Buddhism.
The letter stated that His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch, Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, was informed of the dangerous incident at Patong Pra Than Kirivat School, Patong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, on 11 February 2026, in which Mrs. Sasiphat Sinsoonsorn, the school's director, bravely risked her life by becoming a hostage in place of the students, sustaining injuries and ultimately passing away from the incident.
His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch expressed admiration for her courage and sacrifice, calling it a heroic act born of the highest virtues. He conveyed his deep sympathy and ordered the secretary to provide a donation of 20,000 baht to assist with funeral expenses, along with bestowing one monk's robe and a bundle of sandalwood. These were entrusted to the National Office of Buddhism to present at the royal funeral rites.
