A florist revealed that this year’s Valentine’s Day orders are low because the date falls on a holiday, while flower prices are not as high as last year. Meanwhile, heart-shaped stickers are extremely popular and have sold out completely.
At 9:00 a.m. on 13 Feb 2026 GMT+7, a reporter visited a flower shop in Uthai Thani province before Valentine’s Day and spoke with Ms. Panthiwa Khiawlee, 42, owner of Maneerat Flower Shop opposite the clock tower roundabout in Mueang Uthai Thani district. She said this Valentine’s Day has been quiet; fewer people are coming to buy compared to previous years because it falls on a Saturday. Most customers are working adults, such as government officials and bank employees, who are the main buyers. As a result, order volumes have dropped significantly compared to last year’s livelier sales. Ms. Panthiwa attributed this to a weaker economy and reduced purchasing power. Even with efforts like offering flower delivery, sales have still declined sharply.
Flower prices this year have only risen slightly. The shop imports roses directly from China because they have large, beautiful blooms whose petals do not fall as quickly as Thai roses. The price per rose increased from 80 to 100 baht each. Flower bouquets start at 250 baht and can go over 1,000 baht depending on the customer’s order. Sunflowers, also imported from China, are popular alternatives to roses, priced at 300 baht each, up from 250-280 baht before the Valentine’s period. This year, the shop ordered just enough flowers to meet demand and prevent leftover stock that might spoil.
Thai roses normally sell for 10-15 baht each, with prices rising to 30-40 baht during Valentine’s Day. Chinese roses have been more popular than locally grown Thai roses for several years due to their larger size and beauty. Overall, Valentine’s Day this year has been quiet across all shops in Mueang Uthai Thani district, which has around eight flower arrangement shops.
Meanwhile, in Chainat province, in front of Chainat Pittayakom School in Mueang district, the atmosphere of buying rose bouquets as Valentine’s Day gifts was lively this year. Many students, university students, and local people came to purchase roses in large numbers, keeping vendors very busy.
Each shop offered a variety of bouquets, including fresh flowers, dried flowers, and money bouquets. It is estimated that this year’s sales circulation reaches millions of baht. Although orders were placed, sales were not as strong as last year because Valentine’s Day fell on a Saturday, a school holiday. Students, who usually boost sales, did not come to buy, so sales were lower than previous years.
Vendors agreed that flower prices this year are not as high as last year, only increasing slightly. Roses, the symbol of Valentine’s Day, usually wholesale at 15 baht per stem and sell at 20 baht each at shops. Bouquets are priced from 150 baht upward. Another popular item is velvet flowers made into roses and sunflowers, priced from 20 to 50 baht per flower, affordable for children and teenagers who buy them to give to loved ones.
The best-selling item, which sells out no matter how much stock is brought in, is heart-shaped stickers and love messages. Many students and young people buy these to stick on those they like or love because they are inexpensive and effective. Prices start at just 5 baht, and vendors offer a promotion of buy five, get one free, as a way to support students.
Ms. Suthinee Nenyu, owner of Benflower Shop, said this year’s Valentine’s Day atmosphere is lively. Although fresh rose prices are not high this year, customers order many bouquets, with plenty of orders. Popular bouquets range from 150 to 250 baht, mostly bought by students. This year, the shop prepared tightly arranged fresh rose bouquets to please customers.
Mr. Jakornit Pienak, a gift shop vendor, said heart-shaped stickers are very popular. Many children buy them to stick on those they like because the price is cheap and affordable. The shop offers a promotion: buy 50 baht worth and get two more stickers free. This has caused sales to skyrocket this year, with all stock selling out quickly.
