Sakaeo Election Commission Opens Warehouse to Explain Ballot Storage Confirms Stubs and Ballots Stored Together but Separately

The Sakaeo Election Commission opened a warehouse to explain the ballot storage procedures, emphasizing full compliance with regulations and transparency. They confirmed that ballot stubs and ballots are kept in the same area but separated according to rules, ensuring no impact on the election's integrity.

On 17 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that amid circulating rumors and public concerns about the storage of parliamentary election ballots in several provinces, the Sakaeo provincial Election Commission office recently opened its ballot storage warehouse to thoroughly explain the procedures and security measures to the media and public.

Ms. Thianlada Prayong, Director of the Sakaeo Provincial Election Commission Office, revealed that after the election process concluded, the Sakaeo Election Commission office stored all election documents and materials in the office's storage building, strictly following Election Commission regulations.

The storage is divided into three main categories:

Ballots counted as votes, separated into

Constituency ballots,

and party-list ballots,

(in accordance with Regulation No. 183).

Ballot stubs, both constituency and party-list types,

(in accordance with Regulation No. 184).

Remaining full booklets of ballots, both constituency and party-list types,

(in accordance with Regulation No. 184).

Regarding concerns about why ballot stubs and ballots are stored in the same warehouse despite guidelines to store them separately, the Sakaeo Election Commission director explained: “Storing them in the same building does not mean they are mixed together. They are clearly separated according to document type and Election Commission regulations, with every step traceable.”

The storage building is equipped with complete security systems, including multiple locks, 24-hour CCTV, and security personnel monitoring the area.

The director of the Sakaeo Election Commission office affirmed: “The heart of the election is integrity, transparency, and verifiability. If there are complaints or doubts, ballot stubs, party lists, and ballots can be cross-checked, but it is impossible to know who each voter chose, thus truly protecting voters’ rights.”

The Sakaeo Election Commission office reiterated that all procedures comply with laws and Election Commission regulations and are open for inspection to build public confidence in the democratic election process.
