Suvarnabhumi Airport welcomed Chinese New Year 2026 by organizing a Thai-Chinese friendship performance and presenting souvenirs to warmly convey New Year blessings.


On 17 February 2026, Suvarnabhumi Airport (Suvarnabhumi) held activities to welcome passengers for the Chinese New Year festival of 2026, delivering happiness, warmth, and creating a memorable experience for Chinese travelers arriving in Thailand. Ms. Pawina Jariyathitipong, Chief Executive Officer of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), and Mr. Kittipong Kittikhajorn, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, along with Suvarnabhumi executives, welcomed and presented souvenirs with New Year greetings to passengers at the Chinese New Year photo booth near baggage claim belts 11-12 on the 2nd floor of the passenger terminal. Additionally, a Thai-Chinese friendship performance was staged to add color and auspicious atmosphere, impressing passengers from the moment they arrived in Thailand and affirming Suvarnabhumi's commitment to providing a memorable welcome during this important festival.

Ms. Pawina Jariyathitipong, Chief Executive Officer, revealed that during the Chinese New Year festival from 13-22 February 2026, AOT forecasts total air traffic at Suvarnabhumi to reach 11,374 flights, including 8,546 international flights averaging 855 flights per day, and 2,828 domestic flights averaging 283 flights per day, an increase of 4.3% compared to the same period last year. Passenger numbers are expected to reach approximately 1,971,050, with about 1,620,957 international passengers and 350,093 domestic passengers, averaging 197,105 passengers daily, a 0.2% increase.

For flights from the People's Republic of China, passenger numbers are estimated at approximately 444,255, averaging 44,426 per day, an increase of 24.2% from the same period last year. The number of flights is expected to be around 2,889, averaging 289 flights daily, an increase of 20.5%.

In addition, airlines have requested an increase in extra and charter flights totaling 362, with 123 domestic flights and 239 international flights. This reflects the continued recovery of air travel and growing confidence among foreign tourists, especially from the People's Republic of China.

Mr. Kittipong Kittikhajorn, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, stated that in preparation for the Chinese New Year passenger surge, Suvarnabhumi has coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure convenience, speed, and safety for travelers. The airport has deployed sufficient staff at various points, including security officers, baggage cart attendants, cleaning staff, baggage screening personnel, and Airport Ambassadors. Coordination with ground service providers ensures adequate personnel and equipment during peak hours. Additionally, Chinese language interpreters are available to assist and advise passengers closely. Retail and food service operators have also prepared Chinese-language signage to facilitate Chinese travelers.
